Analysis: Lucknow Super Giants have made a bold decision not to retain their captain, KL Rahul. This, although, hasn’t come as a surprise to many, especially since some expected it after a public fallout between the LSG owner and KL Rahul during the last IPL season. LSG has placed immense trust in Nicky P, who has raised his performance in the T20 format in recent years, making him the second-highest expensive retention alongside Virat Kohli. The franchise has already started building a solid Indian core by retaining highly rated young Indian players such as Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Ayush Badoni. It will be interesting to see who the franchise chooses as their captain for the IPL 2025 season.
