Analysis: Mumbai have done a great job in keeping their core intact ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Jasprit Bumrah has been well rewarded for his stellar performances for the franchise and is their most expensive retention. Securing the services of the current Indian T20 captain, Suryakumar Yadav (SKY), and MI's former captain Rohit Sharma, who have been stalwarts for the MI team and brand, are smart retentions. MI have decided to continue their trust in Hardik Pandya with the captaincy for the upcoming IPL season. Retaining Tilak Varma, who has been a bright spot during the dimmer MI seasons in recent years, is also a worthy retention.
